The Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt , the first Technological
University in Nigeria was established in 1980 from the Rivers State College of Science and
Technology which was established in 1972.
Its objectives are as follows:
• To produce Scientific and Technical manpower of various levels needed for essential development;
• To produce technical and scientific teachers for development programme;
• To assist in the industrial and other development programmes through consultancy services,
special project centers and related activities.
• To encourage the advancement of learning and to hold out to all persons without distinction of race,
creed, sex or political conviction the opportunity of acquiring a higher and liberal education;
• To provide course of instruction and other facilities for the pursuit of learning in all its branches,
and to make those facilities available on proper terms to such persons as are equipped to benefit from them;
• To encourage and promote scholarship and conduct research in all fields of learning and human endeavour.
• To relate its activities to the social, cultural and economic needs of the people of Nigeria ; and
• To undertake any other activities appropriate for a University of higher standard.
Its motto, Excellent and creativity had been demonstrated through the seven Faculties,
five Institutes, and a Post graduate school.
 


 
About the City

Port Harcourt, capital of Rivers state and port town in southern Nigeria. It lies along the Bonny River
(an eastern distributary of the Niger), 41 miles (66 km) upstream from the Gulf of Guinea. Founded in
1912 in an area traditionally inhabited by the Ijaw people, it serve as a port,
named for Lewis Harcourt - the colonial secretary.

Port Harcourt has long been an important merchant port and is today the centre of
Nigeria?s oil industry. Its exports include petroleum, coal, tin, palm products, cocoa,
and groundnuts. Among the industries of the area are timber processing, car manufacturing,
food and tobacco processing, and the manufacture of rubber, glass, metal, and paper
products, cement, petroleum products, paint, enamelware, bicycles, furniture, and soap.

Registration for the Conference received after July 31, 2008 cost N8,500
per delegate. There is a group discount of N7,500 per delegate fo
r a minimum of 5 delegates from the same institution.

 Call for Papers

The Scientific Committee encourages you to submit your abstracts to the Conference.
The abstracts should be written in English, the official language of the event.
The abstract should be submitted preferably via Microsoft Word email attachment
to conference@educationhouse.net.
Deadlines:
Abstract Submission Deadline: August 10, 2008
Notification of Acceptance/Rejection: August 25, 2008
Final Paper Submission Deadline: September 10, 2008
Submission guidelines:
ABSTRACT SUBMISSION:

1. The abstract should be submitted preferably via Microsoft Word email 
    attachment to conference@educationhouse.net.

2. Abstracts should be based on any of the topic areas listed in the section   
    “Sub-themes” of this information or related areas.

3. The deadline for abstract submission is August 10, 2008

4. There is a limit of two contributed submissions per lead author.

5. The Notification of acceptance/rejection of abstracts submitted will be
    sent to you via e-mail by August 25, 2008

FINAL PAPER SUBMISSION:

1. If your abstract has been accepted, you should submit your Final Paper
    immediately.

2. If you wish to be a session chair, please e-mail your request to
conference@educationhouse.net and indicate the topic area in which you are
interested. Registration for the conference is required to be a session chair.

Oral presentation: each presentation will last for 15 minutes and will be presented
in parallel thematic sessions. We will inform you about the reference of your session
and the time of your presentation once the abstract has been accepted.

Instruction for Authors

 

Oral presentation instructions

Each talk is 15 minutes long. It is recommended to use 12 minutes to expound and 3 minutes to discuss.

Ensure that you are available no less than 30 minutes before the start of the session on the day of the conference.
